   Proposal Description:
   Little is known about prodromal symptoms of dementia with lewy bodies (DLB). REM sleep behavior disorder has been identified as a prodromal symptom for alpha synucleinopathies, but it is not specific to DLB. We propose a study that will examine a population of individuals identified as normal cognition/controls at baseline who later were clinically diagnosed with DLB compared to age, gender, education matched individuals who remained classified as normal cognition/control in terms of neuropsychological symptoms, neuropsychiatric symptoms, and sleep disturbances at baseline. This comparison would be repeated for age, gender, education matched participants with normal cognition at baseline who were later diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, and repeated with those with normal cognition at baseline who were later diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.  The overall aim is to retrospectively examine the baseline clinical features between the DLB group and 3 comparison groups to determine if there are any significant differences that may help us better understand prodromal DLB.
